Company Evolution

The Parent Company,D+R Scaffold (London) Ltd was founded in 1965 as Davey and Randell Scaffold(London) Ltd and re-registered under the present title in 1966.

The objective was to offer a complete specialist scaffold and cradle access service to Government Departments, Local Authorities and the Private,Commercial and Industrial Sectors of the building industry.

The success can be measured by the prestigious structures we were entrusted to provide scaffold to,which have included Tower Bridge,Houses of Parliament,Westminster Abbey and Nelsons Column.We have also provided scaffolds for British Rail,L.U.L.such as Brixton Station,Charing Cross,Victoria and Waterloo Station and on structures for British Airways.

In 1992,in order to further improve our service,especially to clients in the Southern Counties,D+R Scaffold (Southern) was established at Horsham, Sussex.

This allowed us easier acces to all areas far south of London to the south coast and the Home Counties.

Our expansion was consilidated in 1983,by the establishment of D+R Scaffold (Eastern) at Basildon,Essex.With its easy access to the motorway network we were able to offer our full services to all parts of East and North East London,the Eastern Counties and North Kent.

A further important milestone was reached in 1990 when the Company was accredited with its Certification of Quality Assurance,thus becoming one of the first scaffold companies tp receive this recognition.

Regular statutory apprasials continue to see Certification maintained.

D+R have progressed further in their pursuit for greater proffesionalism not only in the delivery and presentation of the projects but also in the way that they are carried out.All employees,both mnagement and operatives share the responsibility for Health and Safety.

This can be further exemplified by the aquisition of relevant accreditation greater expansion and therefore resulting in the employment of additional members of staff and operatives.

We are therefore proud of our achievements to date ,which have established us as one of the largest privately owned scaffold companies in the U.K.

Chairman's Statement

Since my last statement many changes have come about and in this era of the “Credit Crunch” everyone has been faced with economic and business challenges, even to the extent of the realignment and restructuring of their internal services, but unfortunately there were also those who were unable to combat the onslaught of financial hardship.

Fortunately our company continues to realise reasonable returns on its equity primarily based on the commitment to our clients, which has remained the same over many years, in that we would provide an unparalleled service combined with the back up of a very responsive and approachable team that have also had the unenviable experience of previous periods of recession.

We are in an age where greater focus is a necessity, an age of collaboration and teamwork a requirement, to weld together and forge ahead an energetic, self motivated, resourceful unit that in its self, and will be better equipped to face the challenges and produce opportunity out of diversity.

With the economic downturn and the overall wide spread impact generally experienced in one form or another there is a recognition that consolidated improvements have to take place. Further to our experience at D+R whereby we have seen encouraging signs of growth in the public, civil, utilities and private sectors and our accomplishments to date and combined with the further anticipation of a greater draw on D+R’s resources there will be additions to our management team and this will be announced in the very near future. 

I am therefore very positive regarding the future of D+R and am sure that D+R will retain and maintain its deserved place within the construction industry.
